Trades & ConstructionNon-Payment / Payment Dispute

Signed off on the finished kitchen in writing. Cooked in it, ate in it, presumably enjoyed it, for two full months. Then refused final payment over a vague, unspecified dissatisfaction that had, remarkably, never come up once in eight weeks of daily use.

Trades & ConstructionAggressive or Abusive Behaviour

A bathroom refit ran behind schedule — entirely because of his own late decision on tile choice, made a full week after the deadline for tile choices — and the resulting confrontation escalated to a raised hand toward the tradesperson doing the actual work. Timelines have consequences. So, evidently, do late tile decisions.

Trades & ConstructionAttempted Scam or Fraud

Hired a small landscaping firm, then tried to negotiate a discount by threatening a bad review before a single spade had gone into the ground. Held firm on a fair price. Got the bad review anyway. At least the threat was, in a strange way, honestly delivered in advance.

Trades & ConstructionSerial Complainer

Same landscaping job, different angle — once the work was finished to a clearly high standard (three separate compliments from the customer, on the day, in person), a fresh complaint arrived weekly for a month afterward, each one minor, each one new, none of them ever mentioned while the crew was still on site to actually fix anything.
